Article: The lessons learned from Malcolm Fraser’s Chinese diplomacy

I recently wrote an article for Business Spectator on the late Australian prime minister Malcolm Fraser’s achievements in building ties between Australia and China. Fraser’s government, from 1975 to 1983, coincided with a particularly tumultuous time in recent Chinese history and his realist diplomacy holds lessons for governments dealing with China today.

The article drew in part on an Australia-China Relations Institute event honouring Fraser which I attended in Melbourne in August.
